Al Shirawi Interiors, a premier specialist in interior fit-out, partitioning, suspended ceilings and joinery works, has been successfully certified to the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System and ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety standards by Llyod’s Register.

The ISO 14001 certification provides evidence of the company’s commitment to sustainable sourcing and delivery of products, adherence to local regulations and its aspiration for ‘zero waste’, while ISO 45001 testifies to the company’s focus on creating a safety culture by going beyond the guidelines set by OSHA and actively involving workers in the planning process, said a statement from the company.

Al Shirawi Interiors, part of Al Shirawi Group of Companies, was established in 1971 to meet the ever-increasing requirements of fit-out jobs in the UAE.

Its expertise comprises turnkey solutions for interior fit-out including acoustic partitions, specialised suspended ceilings, custom made joinery works, case goods, NFR, FR & acoustic doors together with other allied works.

Chief Operating Officer Pramodh Idicheria said: "We subject ourselves the third-party certification as a way to gauge the performance of Al Shirawi companies against the high benchmarks we have set for ourselves."

"These audits in particular involved feedback and interactions with our customers as well as our workers. So it was extremely gratifying to see the positive outcome," he stated.

The company has executed projects for various sectors including retail, healthcare, education, hospitality, residential and commercial properties and entertainment.

General Manager Ani Chacko said: "We always had in place industry-best practices and processes, and regional sustainability requirements was a top priority. So it was a natural progression for us as we have already implemented ISO 9001:2015."

"Few, if any, of our competitors have achieved these dual certifications. Now we can confidently meet the needs of sustainable projects and claim a greater market share," he stated.

Krishna Kumar, General Manager, QHSE & Business Excellence, said: "As an organisation focused on ‘triple bottom line’ with performance measured against three dimensions namely People, Planet and Profit, we are always exploring ways and opportunities to align our current management systems with environmental and social concerns."

"Al Shirawi Interiors has in the past worked on The Arcadia Preparatory School project, a Leed-certified project. It is also executing the construction scope of Arcadia’s secondary school, which again has a number of green building initiatives tied into it," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
