Work is progressing well on the Aviation City project, which is being jointly developed by Dubai Airports Company and Dubai World Central on a sprawling 145-sq-km area in Dubai South located next to the Expo 2020 site.

The project is aimed at providing a base for the regional and international civil aviation industry and place the UAE in the global list of countries with vital technology industries.

HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, yesterday (January 28) visited the project site along with other senior officials and engineers from Dubai World Central to inspect the progress.

During the project tour, Sheikh Mohammed lauded the joint working team from the Dubai Airports Company and Dubai World Central - led by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group and Chairman of the Dubai Airports Company - for its efforts, performance, monitoring, implementation and creativity.

Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the role of the aviation industry, which is a major driver of development and economic prosperity, in strengthening the national economy.

He also visited the City’s private aviation building, a first-of-its-kind in the world, that is equipped to provide comfort and entertainment to passengers of private aeroplanes.

He later inspected the passenger terminal for those travelling through the Al Maktoum International Airport, and visited a duty-free market that sells the products from leading international brands.-TradeArabia News Service
