UAE-based telecom provider Du and Restrata, a global leader in security consultancy, technology and training services, recently discussed opportunities in Blockchain and new forms of economy based on information.

Jose Fernandez, du’s IoT Blockchain and eHealth lead, explained at Restrata’s Supply Chain Fleet Seminar how Blockchain is a new reliable way to store and record any kind of transaction creating a tamper proof database that maintains a history of all events in digital society.

The event discussed how new technologies are driving efficiency in the region’s vehicle fleets and looked at the introduction of telematics to reduce costs, improve driver safety and lower CO2 emissions. Restrata’s fleet telematics delivers increased asset visibility, allowing better analysis of business performance and the ability to predict trends.

Fernandez said: “Blockchain is one of the most disrupting technologies simply because somehow it takes us - back to the basics - of any transaction where: There is no central authority, All organizations can maintain a copy making it impossible to manipulate, and it allows you to know - Who did what and when - at all times.”

David Nicholls VP of Situational Awareness and Telematics at Restrata said: “Restrata’s role as a thought leader, driving new technology adoption in the region means partnering with industry leaders across the innovation spectrum. Blockchain technology has the power to revolutionise the global economy and change the world as we know it. Restrata wanted to run a horizon scanning seminar, working with du to achieve that was a great decision”.

Headquartered in the UAE, with offices and representatives throughout the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe, Restrata provides a range of services in addition to situational awareness and telematics, including physical security consulting, HSE consulting, crisis and continuity management, workforce development and a range of managed services. – TradeArabia News Service
